Not sure what to say?

Rest in peace Cousin Nancy. My dad and your Uncle Charles thought the world of you as you were his first niece. We have so many pictures of you as a little girl. He was in the Army and your Mom and Dad would take you to see him. Someday I am going to go through them and mail them to your children.

Laura and family, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. She seemed like an amazing woman. Her Legacy lives through you Laura and your family. Lifting you and your family up in prayers at this time

In loving memory of a wonderful woman and friend. I will love and miss you always. God speed my Nancy.

Nancy's Obituary

Nancy E. Iwan, nee Currie, age 84, of Lemont, passed away peacefully February 9, 2025.

Nancy, loving mother, is survived by Laura (Ken) Tingle, Frank Iwan Jr, Kristina Becker and stepdaughter's Rochelle (Mark) Halama, and Paulette (Don) Joiner.  She also had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Frank Iwan of 56 years, her parents Charles and Edith Currie, and sister, Arlene McNaught.

Nancy was born in Maroa, IL and raised in Kewanee, IL.  She graduated from Graham Hospital School of Nursing and got her Illinois State license in 1962 where she worked at Cook County Hospital.  After starting her family, she was a stay-at-home Mom, devoted to her kids and all their activities throughout the years. This included: Den Mother for Boy Scouts, Cookie Mom for the Girl Scouts, Band Chaperone on the Disney and European trips, as well as attending all track meets, football, soccer, and basketball games, and band concerts.   She and Frank had a loving marriage that included going dancing, attending theater performances, and fun weekend getaways.

Nancy was a devout member of her church, Bethany Lutheran, where she was involved in VBS, Holiday Bazaars, Altar Guild, various councils, book club, and the Food Pantry.

To know Nancy was to love her.  She was kind, friendly, and had a great sense of humor.  Nancy's hobbies were cooking, baking, crafting, and knitting, but her favorite was gardening.  She loved all kinds of flowers and plants and was always planting or digging something up in the yard to give to others.  She helped start the Lemont Medical Lending Closet, which is still used by the community today.  She used her nursing skills to help with the local Lemont blood drives for many years.   She was a member of the Lemont Garden Club and Canal Gals (formerly the Red Hat Ladies).
