Nancy Ilene Thompson, age 66, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on July 18, 2025. Nancy was born August 10, 1958, to Victor A. and Ilene (Magorien) Hamburg, in Yankton, SD.
Her parents moved to Canton, SD in 1969 where Nancy attended school. She was married and had two sons, William Earl and Steven Dean. She married Duane (Pete) Middlen in Larchwood, Iowa, where they had and raised their son David and daughter Nicole Middlen.
Nancy met and married the love of her life Dave Thompson on August 1, 2004, and was blessed with more extended children, son Davis Thompson (Melisa), daughters Valerie Martens and Rebecca Reecy.
She worked at Showplace Wood Products, in Harrisburg, SD, and retired six years ago. Nancy loved collecting angels and dragonflies. She enjoyed being with her family, and was so very proud of her children and grandchildren.
Nancy had a love for all animals. She loved feeding her outside birds and had a very loving attachment for her cats.
Nancy is survived by her husband Dave Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD, son Steven Dean of Sioux Falls, SD, son David Middlen (Joni) of Larchwood, IA, Valerie Martens, Davis (Melisa) Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Rebecca Reecy of Yankton, SD, sister Pam VanderTuig (Bruce Waage) of Springfield, SD, brother Victor Jay Hamburg (Wanda) of Yankton, SD, extended brother Butch Olseth of Walthill, NE. She was blessed with 11 Grandchildren: Kaleb, Kaylee, Jared, Daniel, Nicholas, Adeline, Courtney, Emily, Christan, Dawson, and Reis, and one Great-Grandchild, Stella. She is also survived by Friend-Aunt Kay Kasulka, many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, mother and father-in-law, infant son William Earl, daughter Nicole Marie Middlen, niece Shantell Ilene Hoffman, brother-in-law Don Vandertuig, sister-in-law Yvonne, great nephew Jaxson Asay, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
