Nathaniel's Obituary

Nathaniel Jon Bontrager, born at home Friday, January 9, 2026 at 5:12am to Titus and Nadine Bontrager of Nappanee, Indiana, passed away from complications on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 8:05pm at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.  Nathaniel’s parents survive, along with his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Ruth Bontrager of Newaygo, MI; maternal grandparents, Lavon and Arlene Borkholder both deceased; paternal great grandparents Levi R. and Mary Esther Bontrager of Centreville, MI, and Esther (Bontrager) Yoder of Middlebury, IN; maternal great grandmothers Velma (Stutzman) Borkholder of Nappanee, IN, and Etta (Howard) Miller of Ligonier, IN; aunts and uncles Keturah and Mose Hershberger, Jonathan and Mary Ella Bontrager, Naomi and Richard Kaufman, Judith and James Kaufman, Christina Bontrager, Regina Bontrager (special friend Mark Beachy), Leona Bontrager, Rebecca Bontrager, Mary Esther Bontrager, all of Newaygo, MI; Gary and Edna Borkholder of Bremen, Gerald and Ida Borkholder of Nappanee, Arlen Borkholder (special friend Amy Miller) of Nappanee; and 14 cousins.  Visitation will be on Friday, January 16, 2026 after 9:00am at the family residence (492 US 6 West, Nappanee).  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 9:30am also at the family residence.  Burial will take place at Borkholder Cemetery.  Home Ministries of the Old Order Amish will be officiating.  Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
