Not sure what to say?

To Gloria Mackie and entire ,
Sorry to hear about your loss. Cherish the memories of Nate. Remember God know what’s best.

I don’t know if I can adequately find the words to express my thoughts and feelings for such a good man. I had the pleasure of working with Nate at FCPS for seven years until he retired. In that time, I learned much from Nate and not just work related, he taught me much about life and how to handle the curves it throws you. I’ll always carry his wisdom with me as everyone he touched was so blessed by his gentle soul. Nate, you were my boss, mentor but most importantly you were my friend and...

Nate had my back; Our conversations - his advice - will forever have a place in my memory.

Keeping you and your family in prayer and my God give you peace and strengthen y’all at such a time as this.

Nate and Jo, you are two of the closest friends, sister and brother next to my heart. Yes, my heart is heavy, but I am blessed to have lived, loved and grown with you two for over 39 years. Jo, you will always have heartfelt hugs, kisses and prayers from me and your god children, Devon, Dani and Eli.

Brother Nathaniel Paul Jr., was born on December 17, 1951 in McCrea, Louisiana. Nathaniel was the fourth born of nine children to the union of Nathaniel Paul, Sr. and Lucille Paul. He married Josephine Brown on April 14, 1972, and to this union three children were born. Brother Nate as friends affectionately knew him, answered God’s call, and went quietly to sleep on April 6, 2021.

Nate’s education began in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, where he attended from first grade to high school. Upon graduation, Nate attended Grambling State University from 1969 to 1972. It was there at college, that he met his lovely bride of forty nine years. Shortly after being married, Nate signed up to serve his country, and entered the Air Force in 1974. He remained in the service until 1980 where he then took a new job opportunity and relocated to Northern Virginia. While in Virginia, Nate had the honor to work for the federal government as both a contractor and government employee. After exiting the federal field, he began a long career with Fairfax County Public Schools as an Information Technology supervisor until his retirement in 2019. As we all know, Nate was not one to stay still. He re-entered the workforce on a part time basis with Stafford County Public Schools from 2019 until his earthly departure.

Nate was known to give his all and more to everyone he encountered and everything that he touched. He truly believed that EVERYONE was a friend and that he knew no strangers. As a member of the Greater Little Zion Baptist Church, he served on the Male Chorus as well as various other committees within the church. Nate also was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated Tau Rho and Pi Lambda Lambda chapters. One of his many passions included traveling with his lovely wife. Together they visited places such as Hawaii, Italy, Barbados, multiple cruises and other fascinating places. He also loved to ride his Harley motorcycles as often as he could. In fact, it would not be unusual to see Nate tinkering with a truck or car in his driveway, as he loved to be hands on at all times.

Nate is preceded in heaven by his parents, Nathaniel Paul Sr. and Lucille Paul; nieces, Irene Paul and Ingrid Saizon DarDar; and nephews Derrick Paul and Jason Paul.

Rejoicing over his beautiful memories, yet mourning his absence are his wife, Josephine Paul, three daughters, Nikkitoyya Irizarry (Angel), Dionne Wiggins (Derek), and Cherita Paul, one son Malik Holmes (Amanda) and his honorary son Jared Brown. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Keshon Brown, Jaylaysia Irizarry, Malik Holmes Jr., Milo Holmes, Jordyn Wiggins, Caiden Wiggins, and one great granddaughter Leighlani Brown. In addition he is also survived by his siblings, Gloria Mackie, Carrie Dailey, and Syronda “Lynn” Paul of Batchelor, Louisana; Lisa “Cookie” Myer (Phillip), Barbara P. Saizon of New Roads, Louisiana, James Paul (Juanita) of Batchelor, Louisiana, Calvin Paul(Brenda) of Simmesport, Louisiana and Rickey Paul (Erica) of Jarreau, Louisiana. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god children and other relatives.

A visitation will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour before the funeral service. A funeral service will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
