Neal's Obituary

Neal Dwayne Baker, 82 passed away on November 6, 2025, in Oklahoma City. Neal was born to Chester Garland Baker and Hazel Mae (Miller) Baker in Tuttle, Oklahoma on August 14, 1943. He married the love of his life, Naoli Fae Baker, on New Year’s Eve in 1963.

Neal was a man who could fix just about anything. A lifelong mechanic and electrician, he rebuilt engines like some people do puzzles, with quiet focus and stubborn pride. Farmalls were his favorite, and he earned the name “Tractor Grandpa” for good reason. Whether he was restoring old machines, rebuilding magnetos, or teaching his grandkids how things work, he did it all with that mix of grit and humor that only he could pull off.

He spent his career as a purchasing manager at Aero Commander, later Rockwell, where his sharp eye and steady hand helped keep the gears of aviation turning. At home, he built both family houses from the ground up. He had the kind of toughness that came from long days in the field; back in high school, after classes he’d go home to plow, and once famously fell asleep on the tractor, taking out a fence he later had to rebuild.

Some of the family’s best memories were made at deer camp down at Billy Creek in southeast Oklahoma. Every Thanksgiving week, the family would load up and head out — the women cooked, the men set up camp, and Neal’s old 32-passenger bus-turned-RV always stole the show. They’d circle the campers and RVs around a big Army tent, sharing laughter, stories, and the kind of warmth that doesn’t come from a fire alone.

Neal believed in hard work, tough love, and doing things the right way — his way. The grandkids could get away with more than their parents ever did, but he kept everyone in line just the same. Fiercely protective of his family, he believed that only family had the right to give each other a hard time. Whether he was taking the grandkids to Braum’s or fixing a live electrical meter without flinching, he lived with a moral compass that never wavered — and if you ever tried to prove him wrong, you’d quickly learn you couldn’t.

Neal was preceded in death by his wife Naoli Fae Baker; parents Chester Garland Baker and Hazel Mae (Miller) Baker; daughter Connie Lynn Baker; brother Lloyd B. Baker; brother-in-law David Keller; sister-in-law Cowetta Keller. Survived by sons Luther Wayne and wife Tessa Lynn Baker of Tulsa, Jeffrey Neal and wife Shelley LeAnn Baker of Newcastle; brother Keith and wife Pam Baker of Choctaw, Glenn and wife Kelly Baker of Tuttle; sister Patricia “Ann” Baker of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Carter Dewayne and wife Kasey Baker of Oklahoma City, Callyssa Victoria Baker and fiancé TJ Colosimo Jr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Cayden Mark Baker of Latta, South Carolina, Danielle Rose Baker of Fort Worth, Texas, Samantha Lynn Baker of Oklahoma City, Luke Joseph Baker and fiancé Avery Mewhirter of Weatherford; great grandchildren Josephine “Josie” Faye Baker, Sofia Christine Michelle Colosimo; and sister-in-law Milvira Sigle.
