Not sure what to say?

Janet and family sending hugs to you. May the wonderful memories get you all through this time. Ned was such a kind person. I am sure he is up in heaven catching the biggest fish ever with the Montana crew. So glad to have know him. Hugs, Kathi Skillicorn Hjelm and family.

Hard to lose a parent

Dear Janet and Family,
We wish to express our love and sympathy at Ned's passing. He is wonderful man. We are sorry that we cannot attend the viewing of the funeral. Carol's health makes it unable for her to leave home. I was planning to come today but Carol had one of her panic attacks and I don't dare leave her when she is having one.

Again we express our love,

Carol and Leon

Ned oozed integrity. He had a twinkle in his eye, in fact, beyond a twinkle. His eyes literally smiled. Under the word "bishop" in the Book of Life dictionary, there could be a picture of Ned. He defined the calling: kindness personified, honest as the day is long. He didn't just talk the talk, he walked the walk.

So sorry for the loss of such a wonderful father, friend and deciple of Christ. He was always such a great example, and always full of love for everyone. We have been blessed to know him. We send our love to your whole family, and pray His blessings to be with and comfort you at this hard time.

Janet, sorry for your loss. Ned was always so sweet and kind when greeting me. I love you sweet friend and pray for comfort for you and your family at this difficult time.

He was a great man and made all that knew him a little better! He leaves behind an amazing legacy. This world was definitely better because Ned was in it. Our love to the family and thanks for our chance to call Ned a friend.

Obituary

Ned's Obituary

Ned Holt Wardle, our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, grandpa-great, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 91. His enduring example and true character of gentle kindness, strength and humility will be a reminder to all who know him of how to live a meaningful life.

Ned was born on October 10, 1934, in South Jordan, Utah, and was the baby of nine children to Charles Lyman and Orel Ann Holt Wardle. He shared his birthday with his older brother LaCoy whom he looked up to his whole life. He was deeply loved by all his older siblings and family. From his earliest years, he learned the values of hard work on the family farms raising and harvesting sugar beets. He also enjoyed being in the sheep camps with his dad throughout the Salt Lake Valley and would often show those special places to his grandchildren.

He graduated from Jordan High School and married his sweetheart, Janet Torkelsen in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1954. Together they created a remarkable partnership built on love, devotion, and shared faith that has endured for over 71 years. They raised a large and loving family with “seven of the best kids” in Riverton, Utah and lived in the same home for 64 years.

Ned was a skilled carpenter and worked for Hercules Powder Company for over 37 years in the maintenance shop. He often worked on building and remodeling projects for many others. He applied his building skills and strong work ethic to everything he did and inspired his children to follow his example.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations to Primary Children's Hospital in memory of Aston Evenson or charity of your choice.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served willingly wherever called, including as bishop, stake presidency counselor, and branch president of the Hornell branch in the New York Rochester Mission, where he served alongside his devoted companion, Janet. He brought love and endeared many friends wherever he valiantly served.

Above all else, Ned loved being surrounded by his loved ones and best friends. He also found great happiness in fishing in Montana, a great day of golf, watching all sports, spending time in the mountains, and drinking a cold can of Coke several times every day. His gratitude, gentleman kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His quick wit, wise counsel, the smell of Brut on him, and the best hugs are what we will all miss the most.

Ned is survived by his wife Janet; their children, Kevin (Marianne), Mark (Karen), Julie Robison (Durand), Angela McPhail (Brian), Jennifer Robison (Cory), Jason (Andrea), Isaac (Sandra), with thirty grandchildren; sixty-four plus 4 to be born this year great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom was a source of immense joy and pride to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, and his great- grandson Aston.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the 4th Ward/Brookwood Building located at 11970 South 1940 West, Riverton, Utah. Funeral services will be held the following day on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 11:00 am with a viewing prior from 10:00-10:45 am at the same location.
