Nelda Lyn, what more do you have to say! A bright light in the middle of any dark. Loved my cousin, so many memories growing up and attending church together. She could make you laugh even if you didn’t want to. Some of my best memories of her and Kenny was when we went to birthing classes together so they could go into delivery with us for Ted and Drew. We almost got kicked out lol. She will be dearly missed. Hugs and prayers to all of you!!!!

Nelda Lyn Colston, of Sanger, Texas, passed away peacefully in Denton on October 29, 2025. Born in Sanger on March 20, 1952, Nelda was the eldest daughter of Jack Jr. and Nelzine Garland. She was raised in Sanger, where she graduated and met the love of her life, Kenneth Colston. They were married on October 16, 1970, and together built a life of love, faith, and family.
Nelda and Kenny made their home in Sanger, raising two children, Ted and Dawan. With a heart for service, Nelda dedicated over thirty years as a paraprofessional in special education programs at Sanger ISD and later Little Elm ISD, touching countless lives with her compassion and patience.
A devoted member of Water’s Edge Fellowship, Nelda’s faith was central to her life. She served faithfully and found joy in worship and fellowship. Above all, Nelda cherished her family—especially her role as “Nanny” to Presley and Hudson, which brought her immeasurable happiness.
Nelda is survived by her daughter, Dawan Allen and husband Chris of Argyle; her son, Ted Matthew Colston of Sanger; her sister, Karen Sprabary and husband Jim of Sanger; and her brothers, Tommy Jack Garland and Eddie Garland and wife Lawana, also of Sanger. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Presley Paige Allen and Hudson Jack Allen of Argyle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Water’s Edge Fellowship, 303 Belz Road, Sanger, TX. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Chad Stephenson. Pallbearers will include Nathan Sprabary, Dusty Garland, Bradyn Sprabary, Hudson Allen, Tommy Colston, and Michael Hoops, Jr., who held a special place in Nelda’s heart. Interment will be in Bolivar Cemetery.
Nelda’s legacy of laughter, love, faith, and positive nature will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
