On February 4, 2026 Mr. Nelson Earl Cox closed his eyes into the joys of the Lord. Please keep his family in your prayers. He was born to the late Milton Cox and Viola Mabry Cox on October 3, 1948, in Ayden, NC. Nelson was preceded in death by his brothers Milton Cox, James Ray Cox, Charlie Cox, William Cox (Doris, Lester Cox (Brenda) and sisters Pearlie Purvis (Thomas), Shirley Hinson (James), Betty Artis (James). He is survived by one sibling Pastor Helen Coppage (Ransom).
Nelson attended South Ayden schools and was a dedicated member of South Ayden High School Alumni Association. He met the love of his life Geneva Ward in 1967. Geneva and Nelson were married for 52 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Nelson was a hardworking, successful entrepreneur and owned Nelson Cox Cement Finishing for over 40 years. He was also Mentor and Consultant to his son's company Cox Affordable Concrete Services.
Nelson served as a faithful Trustee and Deacon at Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Greenville, NC for many years. He later joined his sister's church, River of Life Christian Center in Kinston, NC.
He was a lover of motorcycles, firearms, and jewelry. He was an avid collector of Chevrolet cars and vintage models. He was also a member of the Ayden Raiders Motorcycle Club.
Nelson had an infectious smile that would light up the room. His favorite meal of the day was a good breakfast. He was often seen at Bums Restaurant, Ayden Pool Room, Cracker Barrel, Harvey's, and the Waffle House.
Nelson was preceded in death by his loving wife Geneva Ward Cox and will be forever remembered and always loved by his children Theresa Cox of Ayden, NC, Nelsonya Cox McAdoo (Norris), of Fairburn, GA, Kenan Cox of Greenville, NC, and Albert Ingram (Detrice) of Charlotte, NC; grandchil-dren, Jutresa Sutton, Haaron Nelson Cox, Niles Cox McAdoo, Le'Monna Cox, Darrell Langley, Shadecia Ingram, Anthony Ingram, and Jaheim Ingram; great grandchildren, J'Adore Sutton-Cox, Ja'Diah "Belle" Draughn, Haaron Nelson Cox, Jr., and grand dog Ash.
