Nelson Ray Golden, 72, of Weston, formerly of Peniel, died Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after a six-year courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 10, 1953, at Reedy, the son of the late Brooks and Virginia Golden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Golden; grandparents, Harvey and Sylvia Milhoan Golden and Okey and Icy Board Argabrite.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sharon Golden; daughter, Annette (Chad) Young of Weston; grandchildren, Seth Young and Lydia Young; brothers, Maurice (Sandy) Golden, Brent Golden and David (Jane) Golden all of Peniel; sisters, Connie Doll of Pennsboro, Janice Sue (Darrell) Rhodes of Marshall and Brenda Whited of Peniel; sister-in-law, Janet Golden of Millwood; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda (Oscar) Counts of LeRoy; numerous nieces and nephews.
He retired from Exco – North Coast Energy.
Nelson loved his family and grandchildren.
His pastimes included mowing on the farm and going hunting with his brothers every year in November.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2025, at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Shane Greathouse, Rev. Robert Keen and Rev. John David Hardman officiating. Burial will be in Peniel Cemetery, Peniel.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
