Nemesio's Obituary

With faith in the Resurrection and hope in God’s mercy, we announce the passing of Nemesio Torres, who entered eternal rest on January 29, 2026, at the age of 79.

Nemesio was born on February 9, 1946, in Providencia, Durango, Mexico. Throughout his life, he embodied perseverance, humility, and devotion to family. He believed deeply in the dignity of honest work, in the power of education and in the dignity of all.

He is survived by Guadalupe Torres, his beloved wife of 57 years. Together they built a home rooted in love, sacrifice, and enduring commitment.

Nemesio is survived by his children: Francisco Torres (wife Robin), Mark Torres (wife Lizeth), Luis Torres (wife Belinda) and Virginia Monte (née Torres, husband Ernesto); and by his cherished grandchildren: Jimena Torres, Lily Torres, Camila Monte, Olivia Torres, Theresa Torres, and Julian Torres.

He will be remembered for his steady presence, his warm humor, and a practical wisdom that brought clarity and calm to those around him. His way of seeing the world—grounded, thoughtful, and quietly confident—left a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who knew him.

Nemesio was a beloved and respected member of the community. He was equally loved by his extended family, particularly his nieces and nephews from California, Midland, El Paso and Mexico, whom he loved dearly.  In addition, Nemesio was a Cursillista (!De Colores!) and an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.  The family will lead the Holy Rosary prior to the Mass at 1:00 p.m. at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin funeral home.

The family humbly asks for prayers for the repose of his soul.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
