Nettie's Obituary

Nettie Cunningham Bustamante was born on October 12, 1931 in Dalahican, Cavite City, Philippines. She was the only daughter and last remaining child of Jesse Munroe Cunningham and Marcela Loreta Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her 4 brothers: Lee, George, Fred and Bob. She met Cencio Bustamante, her loving husband of 62 years, when she was just 16 years old. As teenagers, Nettie would peek through her fence, hoping to catch a glimpse of Cencio on his morning walk to work. They wed in the summer of 1952 in Cavite City and were blessed with 6 wonderful children: Jane, Rey, Laila, Albert, Daniel and Eddie.Nettie and her family moved to San Francisco, CA in 1972. She worked hard to provide for her family as a housekeeper at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in Union Square. In 1982, she moved her family to Bay Point, CA. She retired from work in 1999.Nettie loved her family and took special joy in her 12 grandchildren: Jasper, Gidget, Annette, Valerie, Angelica, Melissa, Marlon, Marvin, Marco, Joshua, Julian, and Jacob; and her 4 great grand-children: J.J., Jasmine, Cecilia, and Christianni. She loved dogs, gardening, and fresh flowers. She could always be found with her signature drink in hand, an ice cold diet Coke. She was an active and faithful member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ). Nettie was such a memorable woman who loved to make others laugh with her humor. Nettie and Cencio loved to spend time in their backyard, listening to music and singing their favorite songs. She was and still is a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was everyone's "Grandma." She will be deeply missed.
