Pop was a very good man. I worked for him part time in the early 90's while my first ship was on deployment and I needed to fill in idle time. I was a young country kid from Upstate NY and was pretty lost until I found Pop's . He took me the the Groton Airport to see vintage military planes and told me stories and was a very good man. He made sure I had a ride to the base every night and that I was paid for my time even though that did not matter half as much as just having a place to go....

My mom worked for Mum and Pop when I was a toddler (1980-ish) and I was told that while she folded laundry, I would roll around in my walker and keep the employees entertained. As I was growing up, we often went to Pop’s for burgers or hot chocolate so we could visit with them. They were both lovely and kind. My condolences to the family and though my mom passed away ten years ago, I often think of all of them together and it makes me smile.

I loved his stories of Savon Rock in West Haven before the 38 hurricane. I used to stop by for his hamburger lunch. Served with ice cream. Before I was married Mum washed my cloths. I feel so glad that I knew Pop's, He was always happy and ready to share his life.

So many indelible memories of years gone by come flooding in. The Fays loved kids and we loved them. Mrs. Fay was the best room mother EVER. I was Sharlene's first boyfriend, Ron Kuptzin, at William Seely School and I remember Mr. Fay treating me like family. It's even the little things you do in life that makes your life memorable! May the Fay's RIP and may God Bless Sharlene and Daureen with an abundance
of comfort, joy, and pride for your parents lives~
