Norma's Obituary

Norma Irene Mercer, 83, of Dibble, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in Purcell, with her family by her side.  The daughter of Delbert Earl Vogeli and Florence Irene (Ramey) Whittet, Norma was born February 26, 1942, in Leavenworth, Kansas.

She married her one true love, Wesley Joe Mercer, Jr. on March 12, 1960, in Stratford, Oklahoma. Norma was a homemaker and was a longtime member of the Hawkins Free Will Baptist Church in Alex.  She enjoyed singing gospel music at church and often would visit nursing homes and sing to the residents.  In her spare time, Norma also took pleasure in crocheting, making bracelets, playing bingo, seeing to the animals on the farm including gathering the chicken eggs, taking care of her family and especially spoiling her grand and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley Joe Mercer, Jr.; her sister, Barbara Hasbell; four brothers, Frankie, Timothy, Billy and James Vogeli; and a niece, Pennie Hasbell.

Norma is survived by her three daughters, Teresa Alcorn and her husband, David, of Oklahoma City, JoLynn Johnson and her husband, Denton, of Oklahoma City, and Brenda Ruiz and her husband, Ruben, of Dibble; one son, Wesley Joe Mercer, III “Joe” and his wife, Andrea, of Shawnee; nine grandchildren, Micah Alcorn and wife, Krista, Breanna Rodgers and husband, Eric, Tyler Ruiz and wife, Jackie, Caleb Ruiz and wife, Tanease, Logan Ruiz and wife, Ashley, Wesley Joe Mercer, IV “Little Joey”, Kortnee Houser and husband, James, Kameron Mercer, and Italy Mercer; nine great grandchildren, Kaiden, Jocelyn, Tristan, Baby Wesley, Gavin, Nathan, Praylinn, Camden, and Haven; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard.  Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M., in the Corley Cemetery in Stratford.  Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.  Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
