On the morning of September 25, 2025, Norman Talaski, 75 years old of Bad Axe, was freed from his 5 year battle with vascular dementia. He passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side at the Huron County Medical Care Facility. Norm was born on June 28, 1950 to the late Thomas Sr. and Veronica (Bouvrette) Talaski.
Norm was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. “Stormin’ Norman” led a fulfilled life. Anyone who had the joy of knowing him tends to remember him for his humor, his favorite drink (Calverts and coke), and his blue motorcycle. He was also a very social guy who knew someone no matter how far from home he was, most times!
Norm was one of the best crane operators around and he was not afraid to “toot his own horn” about it! Norm loved to point out houses, trusses, and silos he had set and all types of work he had completed in his 40+ year career. The majority of those years were spent working for Rooney Contracting, Inc. He was a hard working man…so much so that he retired 3 times. He even helped with a few jobs in his last 60’s, one of which was in Unionville so his 1st grandson (Easton) was able to come and see it.
Having a mechanical engineer mind, he built things over time including “the Embarrassor” in 1981. This was used for motorcycle friends to compete in bike pulls to see whose bike had the most power! He also enjoyed reading classic tractor books and attending antique tractor shows.
Norm will be missed greatly by his pride and joy, his daughter Elysia Schulze (Jeff Schulze). He is also survived by his grandsons, Easton and Caleb who made his world go around! He also leaves behind many other loved ones to cherish his memories including his brothers; Harold (Jenny), Paul (Elaine), Tim (Barb),Tom Jr. (Kathy H.), Russ Sr. (Joann), Pat (Rhonda); sisters Alice (Jerome) Hessling, Elaine (Gary) Collings, Kathy (Randy) Collings, Rose (Rick) Collings, Virg Dorsch, and bonus sister Karen (Leonard) Krozek. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friend Cheryl Hurren of Ubly, Godmother aunt Patsy Gusa, uncle Carl Talaski and aunt Margaret Woychowski.
Along with his parents, Norm was also preceded in death by his nephews Timothy (Digger) Talaski, Aaron Krug; and brother-in-law Richard Dorsch.
A Funeral wake service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe, at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home from 2:00-8:00 p.m., and also on Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral service.
The family wishes to share a special thanks to the staff at the Huron County Medical Care Facility for taking amazing care of Norm and by treating him like family.
