Nuncio Cali

Guest Book

Not sure what to say?

I want to express my condolences to Violet and Anna. I remember Nuncio when he worked in his mother, Mary's, grocery store with Anna, at the corner of 21st and Stella Streets. My mother, Thelma Zito, shopped there every week. My sister and I would go with her because Mary Cali's had the best selection of penny candy in the neighborhood. We would often sit on the bench outside the store eating our candy to wait for our mom. I have fond memories from that time in my life. I am so sorry...

I just heard today that Mr. Cali passed away. He was my teacher in Mastbaum in 1971 and 72. He was also my mentor and friend. He had a way of touching our hearts and making us want to succeed. Due to his insite and confidence in me, I graduated with honors rather than being another statistic. He will be greatly missed by all of his former students from Mastbaum. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Cali and the family. Much love to you all.

Violet, I regret not being able to get up to Philly to pay my respects. Please know that you are in our prayers and know, too, that the Lord has His arms wrapped around you to give you comfort. As for Nunci, I seriously doubt God will be able to get a word in edgewise. They're all up there howling at his stories and puzzling over his riddles....and Nunci has enough to have them entertained for a very long time. What a kind and loving man! How very lucky for you both to have shared a long...

Violet,

PLease know you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. I consider myself blessed to have gotten to know Nunci. I will miss him but know he is with God and at peace! He s no doubt testing his riddles out on God.May he rest in peace!!

Wishing all, of your family peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts. The God of all comfort will give you the courage and the strength to cope.

Dear Violet,

Saddened to hear the news of the death of your dear Husband, I write to let you know of my spiritual closeness to you at this difficult time.
Be sure of my prayers for you, your family and all who mourn so great a loss.
May the Lord bring Nuncio immediately into His presence in the company of the saints.

With my deepest sympathy,

Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams

So sorry to hear this news. Mr Cali was unique. I was a student at Mastbaum from 1969-72. I never had him as a teacher, but was a member of the color guard during that time. What a sweet and caring soul. My condolences to Mrs Cali and his extended family, he will be missed
