Butch was like a big brother to me and I will always cherish fond memories filled with much fun and laughter whenever we got together. I will miss you my brother in Christ. Take your rest. A life well done good and faithful servant.

To Diana and the Bajoie family, I know what a difficult loss this is for you. Butch was a one of a kind person. He was always kind, gentle, and helpful; he acted like a big brother to everyone. It’s hard to imagine him not being around. My prayers are with you. May God heal your hearts soon with precious memories of Butch.

Olander P. “Butch” Bajoie, Jr.

Olander P. “Butch” Bajoie, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was born on January 1,1945, to the late Olander P. Bajoie, Sr. and the late Julia Roudeze Bajoie. A proud lifelong New Orleanian, Butch graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School in 1964 and attended Southern University of New Orleans. He entered the trucking profession, and later established a successful trucking company, Dixie Truck Service, Inc., which served the Greater New Orleans area and parts of the Gulf Coast. He also established Bajoie Brothers Truck Club, Inc., and participated in Carnival parades for many years. An avid motorcyclist, Butch was also the founder of Soul Knights Motorcycle Club, Inc., where he shared his passion for riding and camaraderie with fellow cyclists.In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Butch dedicated much of his life to public service and helping others. He was a respected member of the Orleans Parish Board of Jury Commissioners and served for many years on the Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee. He also worked for Milan Senior Center where he provided daily transportation for the elderly and brought much joy to them. Known for his kindness, humor, and generosity, he had a gift for creating lighthearted poems and spontaneousrhymes that brought smiles to everyone around him. A frequent bingo and lottery player, he delighted in sharing his winnings, no matter how small.His generosity extended deeply to his church community. A devout Catholic, Butch was a faithful member of St.Katharine Drexel Parish (Holy Ghost Church) since birth. For over 40 years, Butch sang in the parish choir, often performing solos, and he gave freely of his time and energy to countless church activities. He was a dedicated member of Father Schmodry Council No. 52, served as Faithful Inner Sentinel of E. O. Moss Grand Assembly No.4 of the Knights of Peter Claver, and was an active member of the Holy Name Society. In recognition of his deepfaith and devotion to Christ, Butch received the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion, the highest honor for lay Catholics in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Olander P. Bajoie, Sr. and Julia Roudeze Bajoie, his godmother NellRose Roudeze LaPierre, his brother Lester Charles Bajoie, Sr., and his grandparents, Denaud Geddes Roudeze, Sr. and Willie Cantrelle Roudeze, and W.D. Walker and Ethel Bajoie Walker. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Nolan J. Bajoie, Sr. (Eunice), Sen. Diana E. Bajoie, Paulette Bajoie Ross,Reginald Bajoie, 1 (Paphine), Judy Bajoie, Aaron Bajoie, godchildren Dr. Nicole Bajoie-Ford and Reginald Bajoie II, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his laughter, warmth, and giving spirit. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Olander P. “Butch” Bajoie, Jr. will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish (Holy Ghost Church), 2015 Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115 with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Vincent De Paul  Cemetery #1, 1950 Soniat Street, New Orleans, LA 70115.
