Ona Mae Gonzalez, 42, passed away on February 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet strength that will be carried forward by all who knew her.
Ona was the kind of soul who showed up for the people she loved—steadfast, loyal, and deeply compassionate. She had a gentle heart but a fierce determination, always pushing herself to grow and build a better future. Her dedication to learning led her to earn her master’s degree from Western Governors University, a milestone she worked hard for and was deeply proud of. Education wasn’t just an achievement for Ona—it was a reflection of her perseverance and belief in becoming more than yesterday.
She was a proud member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, and she carried that heritage with respect and quiet pride. Family meant everything to Ona, whether by blood or by the bonds of chosen family. She found her greatest comfort in the love of her husband, Richard Gonzalez, who was her partner in life, laughter, and the everyday moments that matter most.
Ona is survived by her loving husband, Richard Gonzalez; her cousins, Stephanie Bernard, Tony Bernard, Adam Gokey, and Robert Gokey; her best friends, Tyler Seulean and Stephanie Gninia; and her beloved pets, Zeus and Harley, who brought her constant companionship and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, HC and Leona Foster, whom she loved deeply and carried with her in heart and memory.
Services have been entrusted to South Houston Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life honoring Ona Mae Gonzalez will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Ona’s presence was steady, grounding, and sincere. She had a way of making people feel seen, of listening without judgment, and of loving without condition. Though her time here feels far too short, the impact she made will live on in the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the memories that will be held close forever.
She will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and never forgotten.
