With great sadness, we announce the passing of Opal (Hardin) Stump, of Phelps, Kentucky. Opal ended her race on December 12, 2025, at PMC, Pikeville, KY. Opal was born on May 13th, 1934, to the late George Hardin & Nellie (Hamilton) Hardin. In addition to his parents, she was also preceded in death by her wonderful husband of over 72 years, Jessie Stump; one son, Eddie Dotson of Sevierville, TN; three granddaughters, Amy Suzanne McCoy, Candace Brooke Stiltner, and Johnda Sue Dotson; two sisters, Sadie Pruit, Mildred Sincell; two brothers: Vernon Hardin and Douglas Hardin. Opal was of the Protestant Faith and a member at Jamboree Church of God for many years.She was a strong-willed lady who took great pride in spending time with her family and friends. She was so loved by her family and those surviving Opal include, two sons, Leonard (Jennifer) Stump and Johnny (Sue) Stump both of Phelps, KY; seven daughters Ruth Stump of Campton, KY, Delores (Gary) Layne of Strawberry Plains, TN, and Lisa Stump of Phelps, KY; also Diane Estep-Dotson of Sevierville, TN, Kathy (Bobby) McCoy of Phelps, KY, Sherry (Howard) Norman of Freeburn, KY, Jessie Kender of Phelps, KY; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She had very close friends of hers and her children that she appreciated, too. We aren't saying goodbye to Opal, our mother, grandmother, and friend, but just so long for now. I'll see you soon! The Stump family would like to extend their appreciation to all of Opal's friends who visited or just showed to our family the consideration and love during the illness and loss of this precious one, Opal Stump. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025 evening from 6-9 P.M and the funeral on Monday, December 15, 2025 beginning at 12 PM at the Jamboree Church of God located at 36442 State Highway 194 East in Jamboree, KY. Tommy Dotson, Mitch Bowling, and Chris Casey will be conducting all the services for the special lady. Interment will conclude at Davidson Memorial Gardens in Ivel, Kentucky with friends and family serving as pallbearers. The Stump family thanks everyone for their kindness shown to them. R.E.
