Oren's Obituary

Oren Bennie Ramsey Sr. was born to the late John Riley Inman Ramsey and the late Mary Elizabeth Allison, on May 16,1945, he was the youngest of 10 children.  He made his transition on April 18, 2024.

Oren was known to all as Uncle OB, Big Papa, or just OB.  He attended school in the Pontiac school district.  In 1964 he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.  After the army he returned home and was employed by General Motors (Fisher Body Plant).  In 1967 Oren married an old neighborhood friend Jo Ann Watkins. They had three children, Oren B, Ⅱ, Keisha and Mecca. Oren and Jo Ann were married 56 1/2 years. After a couple of years with GM.  Oren started working for Pontiac Schools (Bethune and Northern). 

Oren was preceesded in death by his parents, his sisters; Lorraine Montgomery, Gladys Baker, Gwen Mason and Sophie Page, his two brothers John and Andrew and his son Mecca Shea. 

He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, JoAnn Ramsey, his sister, Ruth Ramsey, his children, Oren Ramsey, II, Keisha Ramsey and Latricia Williams, ten grandchildren, 6 great grands and a host of nieces, nephews and tons of friends.  Oren will be truly missed by all, spending time with friends and family was his daily tribute to the world.Mr. Ramsey Bennie, Sr., will lie in repose on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Cobb's Funeral Home Chapel 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan, from 12:00pm-6:00pm.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2026, at Welcome Missionary Baptist Church 143 Oneida St. Pontiac, Michigan, Rev. Douglas Jones, officiating.  Family hour will begin at 10:00am and the service will promptly start at 10:30am.  Internment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
