Orville Sosebee Obituary

Orville Gene Sosebee, 86, of Wichita Falls, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025.


A son of the late Herbert Alton Sosebee and Nina Jo Brown Sosebee, Orville was born on May 16, 1939 in Wichita County, Texas. He married the love of his life, Patricia Brown, on June 20, 1959.  Orville worked in the Wastewater Department for the City of Wichita Falls for over 20 years until retiring.  He was a longtime faithful and devoted member of First Primitive Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Youth Director, and Youth Camp Director for many years.


In his younger years, Orville enjoyed coaching girls’ softball in the Wichita Falls area.  He loved going to family reunions, watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities, and spending time with family and friends.  Orville touched many lives throughout the years, and will be dearly missed.


Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Brown Sosebee; his granddaughter, Sarah Venegas; two sons-in-love, Ralph Venegas and Jeff Moss; nine brothers and two sisters, Lloyd, Melton, Pete, Frank, Ronnie, Cletus, Jerry, Danny, Carrol, Treva Jo Cates, and Gail Sosebee.


He is survived by his three daughters, Kimberly Sosebee of Iowa Park, Robin Venegas of Wichita Falls, and Melissa McCasland of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Melba Watson of Farmersville, and Alta Choate of Graham; seven grandchildren, Christen Lacock and husband Ashley, Jesse Trevino and wife Candice, Jennifer Selman and husband Stephen, Carrie Luera and James Farris, Chris McCasland and wife Megan, Cierra Gilliland and husband Michael, and Micah Bietendorf; ten great-grandchildren, Cade, Cole, Gavin, Annabelle, Addison, Alivia, Maecyn, Lathyn, Charli, and Rhett; his son-in-love, Gilbert Luera; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.


The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.  Funeral services honoring Orville will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Allen, officiating.  Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.  Serving as Pallbearers will be Allen Sosebee, Steve Sosebee, Scott Morrison, Sean Choate, Blake Seyler, and Steven Sluder.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Soebee, Larry Sosebee, Junior Sosebee, Bruce Smith, Gilbert Luera, and Troy Cullar.

I worked with Orville in the late 90's. We both worked for the City and we worked the night shift together. Orville always spoke highly of his wife and children. We developed a strong friendship over the years. See you on the other side my friend.

Orville was such a bright light. Such a sweet an man. I'm sure he never met a stranger. Sending prayers of peace and comfort to all of his family during this difficult time.
