Jean was a very special aunt. I always loved calling her on her birthday and she always knew who I was by my voice, even though we didn’t hear each other’s voice other than that one time a year. So glad I got to visit her 11 days before her passing

Orzia's Obituary

Orzia Jean Zollinger, age 86 of New Paris, IN, died at 1:31 am on Thursday, October 23, 2025 after a long illness.  Orzia was born on June 9, 1939 in Hindman, KY to Irton and Hazel (Slone) Caudill.  She worked as a school teacher in Hindman Kentucky, then later at Johnson Controls. On June 20, 1980, she married Timothy Zollinger. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2014. Orzia lived in the area for most of her life and was an avid golfer.  She is survived by her son, Jim (Felicia) Rice of Surprise, AZ; granddaughter, Tia Rice of New Paris; sister, Meldia Baker, Marion, OH; and brother, Ricky Gayhart, Garner, KY.  Orzia was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tim Rice; brother, G.B. Caudill; and sisters: Judy Slone, Ogie Sparkman, and Helen Holtsclaw.  Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 pm on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. A graveside service will follow at the New Paris Cemetery.  Pastor Jason Rohde will officiate. Memorial contributions in Orzia’s name can be made to the New Paris Fire Department.
