I'm gonna miss you Great One. Mr. Crenshaw you truly was an awesome warm hearted man. You loved your family beyond measure. I will never forget your warm talks about family fishing and your football days in Tennessee. This hits me hard but now you are with mama Alberta. Hug her for me. ❤❤. Love you dad Crenshaw.

Oscar JoeLee Crenshaw, age 87, was born on May 6, 1938, in Gallatin, Tennessee, to the late Oscar Joe Crenshaw and Alice Head Crenshaw. He departed this life on Feb 16, 2026.
After the passing of his mother, Oscar was lovingly raised by his devoted Aunt Laura, whose care and guidance helped shape the man he would become. Growing up in Tennessee, he formed lifelong bonds and cherished memories with his childhood best friends, John Link and “Fatboy.” Those early friendships remained special parts of his life story.
He received his public education in Sumner County and graduated from Union High School in 1959. During his high school years, he excelled in both track and football, earning the nickname “Pot Tea.” A standout track star, Oscar held aspirations of running track in college.
Life’s journey led him to Marion, Indiana, where he met the love of his life, Alberta Carter. The two were united in marriage on October 11, 1962. They later settled in Gary, Indiana, where they built their home and raised their family.
Oscar found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, taking road trips back home to Tennessee, and cheering on his favorite football teams. Above all, he cherished his grandchildren and treasured the time spent with family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alberta Crenshaw (2024); his sons: Oscar D Crenshaw (1962–2017) and Albert L Crenshaw (1965–1987); his brothers: William “Dink” Crenshaw and Joe Ned Crenshaw; his sisters: Laura Alice Vaughan, Ann Mitchell, and Louise Peterson.
Oscar leaves to cherish his memory his children: Patrick Crenshaw, Tamiko Crenshaw-Allen (Willie), Arlisha Crenshaw-Freeman (Aaron), and Cornilius Crenshaw, along with a host of grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
His legacy of strength, loyalty, love of family, and deep Tennessee roots will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
