Otis James Moon Sr., 85, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 in Greenville, Texas.

On Thursday, February 2, 1939, Otis James Moon Sr., began his life in Upshur County, Texas to the parentage of Saint Clair and Erma B. Moon.  He received his formal education from schools in the Ore City School District graduating from Macedonia High School in the Class of 1958.  At an early, he became a member of Cedar Grove Methodist Church of Ore City, Texas.  After graduation, Otis enlisted in the United States Army, however, just  two days before basic training, he met the love of his life, Bettye Louise Wayne.  James and Bettye were united in holy matrimony on December 29, 1966 and three children - a son and two daughters were welcomed to this union.

In 1967, Otis received an honorary discharge from the Army and Army Reserve.  At this time, Otis and his family moved to Greenville, Texas where he worked at TEMCO (presently L-3 Communication).  He also worked as a supervisor at Alumax Aluminum Company in Rockwall, Texas for over thirty years.  In his final years, he worked for Raytheon and retired to become caregiver of his wife.  He was actively involved in the Greenville community and participate in the service project - The Warriors Motorcycle Club.

Otis was a dedicated, faithful and devout member of Goodwill Baptist Church, serving in many capacities including  as chairman deacon until his health began to decline earlier this year.
