Pasquale “Pat” Della Piazza, a lifelong resident of Summit, NJ, passed away at his home with his loving family by his side on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 85.The visitation will be held at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave, Summit, NJ on Wednesday, Jan. 24th, from 4-8 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave., Summit, NJ, on Thursday, Jan. 25th, at 9:30 AM followed by the burial at St. Teresa’s Cemetery.Pat was born in Summit, NJ to the late Pasquale and Mary (nee Petrillo) Della Piazza. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving on active duty from 1952-1956 and in the Air Force Reserves from 1956-1960. Early in his career Pat was a member of the Summit Fire Department where he was a firefighter for 5 years. He then began a career in the traffic departments for both CR Bard Inc. in New Providence and Burling Instrument Inc. in Chatham, NJ before retiring in 1994. Pat was an avid fan of NY Yankees, Notre Dame, and Summit Football. He was also an avid fisherman. Pat’s greatest love was for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Paula (nee Piccione) Della Piazza; his loving children, Thomas (Anna) Della Piazza of Summit, Judith Della Piazza of Summit, Karen (Gerard) Sachewicz of Clark, Cheryl (Michael) Colavita of Hillsborough, and Susan (Michael) Feoli of Summit; and his cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey, Eric, Eva, and Camille Della Piazza, Julia and Mark Colavita, Kyle and Jack Sachewicz, and Michael and Jaclynn Feoli. He is also survived by his companion Abbie, his yorkie puppy of 6 years. Pat was pre-deceased by his siblings, Angelo, Theresa, John, George, and William Della Piazza.
