Patricia Margaret Parlette passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025 at Saint Francis Hospital with her family by her side. Born February 9, 1954 in Stamford, CT she was the beloved daughter of Audrey Wynn Parlette and Richard C Parlette Sr. Before becoming a long time resident of Mansfield, Patti was a graduate of Masuk High School in Monroe, Class of 1972 and studied French and German at the University of Connecticut, Class of 1976.
Her love of languages and UConn continued throughout her life, where she worked as a dedicated Administrative Coordinator in the Literatures, Cultures, and Languages Department for over thirty years and helped to start multiple scholarships for students. UConn was a place she treasured dearly, and through her job, she was able to meet people from around the world and form many life-long friendships.
She had a hunger to make the world a more caring place and always strived for peace and love for all. She had many passions in her life, but none more important than her family. She dedicated much of her time to supporting her sons, often spending countless hours freezing in local ice rinks. Patti was always quick to donate her time and money to others, including 15 years as the Treasurer of Columbia Youth Hockey.
Patti had a passion for music and enjoyed a wide range of artists, but nothing compared to her love for the music of Joni Mitchell. A self-proclaimed expert of “Joni-ology,” and a proud contributor to the book, Gathered Light: The Poetry of Joni Mitchell’s Songs, she was an encyclopedia of Joni lyrics, seamlessly weaving quotes into any conversation. So in true Patti style, don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. I wish we had more time and there are so many things I would have done, but clouds got in my way, but laughing and crying, you know it's the same release. However, it comforts us to know that the good go to Heaven and she is in a better place.
Patti is survived by her devoted sons, Christopher and Michael, along with their wives Ashley and Candace. She will be deeply missed by her five grandchildren, brothers Richard (UT) and Peter (CA), her cherished cousin Holly Hussey Boutwell (CT), many beloved nieces and nephews, and countless close and dear friends. Patti is predeceased by her parents, as well as her brother Christopher Parlette Sr.
In accordance with her wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Online condolences and any personal stories of Patti are encouraged to be shared on her obituary page.
In lieu of flowers and to honor her charitable character, memorial donations may be made to the scholarship fund that Patti founded and took great pride in to promote Human Rights and Peace: The Parlette Peace Prize. To donate to this fund in her honor, you can go to the UConn Foundation website at https://www.foundation.uconn.edu. When submitting your donation, please select “Give Now,” and type “The Parlette Peace Prize” in the “Area of Support” section.

It has taken me a very long time to accept the reality that my dear friend is no longer on this level of existence. I still remember when she showed up in my 8th grade class. The California girl! She had just moved back to Connecticut from Santa Barbara. We instantly became friends and began to weave our tapestry. I was so blessed to see her when I would visit CT. Patti was there for me for every one of my family members' passings. This wasn't always easy for her since she didn't like driving on freeways.
Patti was truly the kindest and most considerate person who graced my path. She sincerely wished peace for all mankind.
I look forward to seeing her on the other side.
With all my love,
Rose Gonzales (Veccherelli) aka "Four Roses" as her grandfather from Stamford nicknamed me after his favorite whiskey

I met Patti through our mutual friend Judy. Then Patti became my friend. It feels as if her death happened so suddenly. I haven't been able to process that the world has lost such a beautiful person. I will miss her so much. I will miss her Joni Mitchell quotes. She had a song quote for every situation. Every time I make soup, I will miss getting to drop some off at her house. She loved my soup and I loved to share it. There are too many memories to mention. I will miss her.

I've known Patti since our days as UConn students. She was always a caring person and I'm sure will be missed by many. I've communicated with her on FB and was lucky enough to meet up with her at CSN concert not too many years ago. My condolences to her family.

A deep sadness, overwhelming, at the loss of dear and darling Patti. It was she who saw me through my doctorate, always encouraging me over the most challenging hurdles. I was an “older student,” in my 40s, and we shared a bond: two sons the same ages, who were teens during those years (1995-2001), and about whom we never tired of sharing our worries as well as our joys. I loved hearing from Patti about her contributions to cementing Joni Mitchell’s place in music history. And what an incredibly thoughtful and generous gift, from her heart, to initiate the Peace scholarship. Patti will be in my heart forever.

I only wish Patti could read some of these tributes and know what a difference her loving, kind and caring spirit made in so many lives.
Those she loved are better people for having known her and the world is just a little bit better place because of her. We will miss you dearly Patti but you will always be with us in our hearts.

I first met Patti at my son’s memorial service, but I felt like I already knew her. My son worked for her during his 4 years as a student at UConn, and talked constantly about Patti! He absolutely loved her, and I believe the feeling was mutual. She made a huge impact in his life and I was grateful to have met her. Just wish it was in different circumstances. Patti give Jason a big hug in heaven for me. Thank you for all you did to make his life better. I will not forget you! Jason Ebbeling’s Mom.

I first met Patti after the passing of my parents, Joan and Paul Meyer in 2008. She was such a valued presence in the Dept. of Romance Languages, and my parents spoke of her often, with great affection and admiration. I was struck by her kindness, caring, and creative energy. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She will be greatly missed.

Chris and Michael,
All the Whiteleys are so sad to hear of your mom’s passing. We’ve been gone from Connecticut since 2002 but I’ve still kept in touch, particularly when she wanted to share her Husky pride or perhaps some motherly/grandmotherly pride.
As fellow EO Smith hockey moms, we shared those cold days at the outdoor rink.
Our deepest condolences,
Yvette,Herb, Jay, Liz and Steve

We last crossed paths in 1982. Last year we connected and eagerly made plans to visit. It was postponed...for too long. I am happy we shared a bit of our lives. Sorry we didn't have the opportunity to share more. Love to all.
