Patsy's Obituary

Patsy Sue Ashmore, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Wichita Falls, Texas, on May 18, 2025, shortly after celebrating her 90th birthday.

Born in 1935 to Albert Leroy and Beatrice Patton, Patsy was raised with strong values, a love of storytelling. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, A.L. Patton and Charles Patton; her husband, Jerry Ashmore; her daughter-in-law, DeeDee Scott; and her granddaughter, Rachel Scott.

Patsy began her professional life with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Ada, Oklahoma, where she was known for her quick wit and love of hearing—and sometimes sharing—the latest town gossip. She married Lewis Scott and together they raised three sons, building a life filled with hard work, laughter, and love.

In 1968, Patsy moved to Arlington, Texas, and began a long and rewarding career with American Airlines, where she worked until her retirement in 1988. She married Jerry Ashmore in 1974, and they shared 49 years of devoted companionship.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Scott of Wichita Falls, TX; Bobby (Karon) Scott of Burkburnett, TX; and Lewis Scott of Duncan, OK; step-son, Wayne (Margaret ) Ashmore of Olive Branch, MS, and step-daughter, Annette (Keith) McAlister of Coldwater, MS; Patsy was a proud and loving grandmother to Misty (Eric) Smith of Burkburnett, Brent Scott of Burkburnett, Leitasha (Dalton) Rodriguez of Midland, TX, and Brad (Trinity)Scott of Duncan, OK; and five step-grandchildren, Jarrod Ashmore, Miranda (John) Carlton, Travis (Sarah) Ashmore, Ryan (Lacey) McAlister, and Mallory (Evan) Manning; seven great-grandchildren, Charity and Ashlyn Smith, Mallory and Case Scott, Lincoln and Abraham Rodriguez, and Chandler Knutson; seven step-great grandchildren, Lexi, Carly, and Aubree Ashmore, Silas, Wrenley, and Sutton Carlton, and Levi and Juniper Manning, and beloved nephews Hardy and Kris Patton, and sister-in-law, Sue Patton.  

A service celebrating Patsy's life will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at The Lighthouse Church in Burkburnett, Texas, with Rev. Bobby Scott, Rev. Ray Ledbetter, and Hardy Patton officiating. All who knew and loved Patsy are welcome to attend and honor her remarkable life.
