Paul Leo Doherr, 89, of Lansing, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 and is now with his Lord and Savior, his son, Greg Doherr and daughter, Aneice Doherr. He was born April 11, 1928 in Fowlerville Michigan to Paul and Rosa (Dailey) Doherr. He attended the one-room country school and graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1946. The U.S. Army called Paul to service in December 1950 and he was sent to Germany during the Korean War. Paul served as a tank mechanic during this time. Paul returned from the Korean War and married Marcia Eckert in 1954. He was very proud to have served his God, country and his family. He worked for 38+ years at Oldsmobile retiring in 1987 from experimental assembly. Paul loved to go dancing, fishing and bowling and spending time with his family. His favorite comment was, “Is everybody happy”. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, their children: Julie & Bruce Simon of Commerce Township, MI; Christine and Bruce Danford of Dimondale, MI; and Mark and Lynne Doherr of Dimondale, MI. Their 6 grandchildren: Tiffany Doherr, Justin & Katelyn Danford; Kyle, Austin & Derek Simon; and 3 great grandchildren, Brianna Good, Dylan & James Doherr Myers. Also, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ernestine Glick and Matilda (Tilley) Ludtke. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 14 at 10:30AM at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at 2520 W. Willow St, Lansing will full military honors provided. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, 6020 W. Saginaw, Lansing, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00PM Visitation continues Friday at 9:30AM on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent’s Children’s home.
