Borger Pioneer passes away.Paul R. Robinson, 100, of Amarillo went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in Amarillo. Paul was a lifelong resident of Borger for 87 years before moving to Harrington Assisted Living in Amarillo in 2014. Burial will be at Llano Memorial Cemetery in Amarillo at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2017. Services will follow at Bunavista Baptist Church of Borger on Saturday, September 30 at 2:00 PM at with Pastor Conny Moore of Bunavista Baptist Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown's Funeral Directors of Borger. Family visitation will be Friday, September 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains, Borger. Paul Robinson was born June 24, 1917 on the family farm nine miles north of Pawnee, Oklahoma to James Albert and Effie Ann (Parson) Robinson. Paul was the fourth of five Robinson brothers. The Robinson family is a familiar name in the Southwestern oil country since 1918 where Paul's dad J.A. Robinson used teams of horses to drill wildcat wells in Three Sands, Oklahoma. When the oil boom hit the Texas Panhandle in 1926, Paul age nine, and his family teamed up to engage in oil field activities. They sold their horse teams in Oklahoma, purchased trucks and moved to the Texas Panhandle settling in Borger. Their principal business for over 50 years was the J.A. Robinson Sons Trucking Company which had two hub locations in Borger and Perryton. Paul, gifted with a mechanical engineering mind, managed and maintained the operation of a fleet of fifty-five trucks and rig equipment that serviced the oil field for the Texas Panhandle and five surrounding states. Paul and his four brothers also organized a secondary oil field business; Robinson Brothers Drilling Company, operating four rotary drilling rigs in West Texas, the Permian Basin and New Mexico. Robinson Bros. Drilling Company was headquartered in Midland, Texas.Though both businesses proved to be a beacon of dependable reliability to the oil and gas industry; Paul Robinson's legacy goes far beyond the excellence of family business. It extends to include a loving service to God, his loving wife Jo Ann and family, his church family, friends and community. Paul was known for being physically strong, a hard worker, self-sacrificing, loyal, a generous giver, a man of wisdom and of good reputation with unwavering character and integrity. He was highly respected and loved by many who knew him. His life was a Godly testimony and blessing to so many. Paul was loved and appreciated by many and will be greatly missed. Paul committed his heart and life to Jesus at age 24. He was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Borger for 70 years and a present member of Bunavista Baptist Church of Borger. Mr. Robinson enjoyed actively serving on many church committees and took part in both home and foreign missions. Paul and his wife Jo Ann traveled to several foreign countries and served as lay missionaries. Driving and maintaining the church bus and vans were one of his favorite acts of service. Paul is preceded in death by a son Don Claude Robinson, his parents James Albert (Pop) Robinson and Effie Ann Parsons Robinson and four brother's; Leon Robinson, Forrest Robinson, Maurice "Babe" Robinson, and Claude Robinson. Survivors include his wife Jo Ann Rumple Robinson of Amarillo; two daughters, Sue Ann Robinson Davenport and husband Ron of Amarillo; Kena Robinson Potter and husband Dave of Amarillo; Grandchildren: Mark Robinson and wife Sheila of Huntsville, Texas; David Woods of Hobbs, New Mexico; Natalie Jackson and husband Lukes of Canyon; Steven Woods of Amarillo, Hannah Frost and husband Stephen of Amarillo; Daniel Mitchell of Amarillo; Jonathan Mitchell of Amarillo, Great Grandchildren: Nathan Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Braylen Jackson, Daxten Jackson, Elizabeth Frost, Asher Mitchell and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Robinson will lie in state at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains, Borger on Friday, September 29 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.Services are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors, Borger.
