Paula Shirey Helmbold

With deep sorrow and abiding love, the family of Mrs. Paula Shirey Helmbold announces her passing in the evening of September 06, 2025, at Friendship Village's Hospice of the Valley. She was 91 years old. 

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Paula was the daughter of the late Paul Vernon Shirey and Ramona Crawford. She was preceded in death by her elder sister, Elaine Shirey Werkheiser. 

Paula is survived by her devoted husband, Robert L. Helmbold, whom she married on August 25, 1956. She is also survived by two sisters, Pamela Herbert and Justine Shirey Kern. She leaves behind a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Helmbold, and three sons, David Paul Helmbold, Bruce Kemmerer Helmbold, and Eric Paul Helmbold; three beloved grandchildren, Ryan James Helmbold, Lucas Paul Helmbold, and Kyra Michelle Helmbold.

Her warmth, humor, and zest for life touched everyone she met. Paula's legacy lives on in the strength and love of her family, and in the fond memories shared by all who knew her.
