Pauline Geissert, age 100, of Mt. Zion (formerly of Breese) died Tuesday January 9, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.
She was born August 17, 1917, to Bernard and Mary (Hilmes) Kassen of Albers, IL. On June 1, 1938, she married Harry Geissert in Forrest City, Arkansas.
Survivors include her only daughter, Joyce (Larry) Mazzotti of Mt. Zion; a grandson, Justin King of Los Angeles; step-grandchildren Amy Mazzotti of Decatur and Jodi Mazzotti of Algonquin, IL. Also surviving are two great step-grandchildren, Ariya Topps and Silas Majercik.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Geissert, and all five of her siblings: Bernadine Meier, Lawrence Kassen, Frances Middendorff, Rita Schmidt, and Clarence Kassen.
Pauline was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Church in Mt. Zion. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and co-owner with Harry in two businesses; American Arts and Crafts and Geissert Orchard in Breese.
After Harry’s death, Pauline relocated to Mt. Zion, IL and enjoyed daily bingo games with her friends at Heritage Health. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Heritage for their care, but especially to Erica, Angela, and Cathy who tirelessly attended to Pauline’s needs over the past five years.
Private graveside services will be held on Saturday January 13th at 11:00 am at Ellwood Cemetery in Breese.
Pauline lived a long and full earthly life and made the hundred year milestone. She now has eternity to spend with Jesus. Our loss is heaven’s gain.
