Paz's Obituary

Paz Marie Silva, of Houston, Texas, was born on December 30, 1941, and was peacefully called home to the Lord on January 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late Mario Silva Jr., and together they built a life rooted in faith, devotion, and family.

Paz was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mario Silva Jr.; her parents, Fortunata Vega and Romualdo Valdes; and her siblings, Romualdo (Ray) Valdes, Michael Valdes, Geneva Salas, Socorro Valverde, and Anthony (Tony) Valdes.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children: Paulette Costello (Stephen), Shelly McKay (Mike), and Jason Silva; her cherished grandchildren: Anthony McKay (Rachel), Sydney McKay Curtis (Keegan), Caitlin Mendoza (Alberto), and Claire Costello (Kurtis); and her precious great-grandchildren, Victoria, Violet, and Natalia, who were a constant blessing in her life.

She is also survived by her loving siblings: José María (Chema) Valdes, Cruz Valdes, Louis Valdes Sr., and Julio Valdes.

A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Paz was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church for more than 50 years. Her life reflected her devotion to God, her commitment to prayer, and her steadfast love for her family. She lived humbly, served faithfully, and trusted fully in the promises of eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Services have been entrusted to South Houston Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Holy Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, located at 10727 Hartsook Street, Houston, Texas 77034.
