Pearl's Obituary

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles…” — Isaiah 40:31

With tender hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we celebrate the earthly journey of Pearl L. Stagg, age 86, who transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on December 4, 2025. Born in Suffolk, Virginia, Pearl was the cherished daughter of the late Marshall Donaldson and Henrietta Donaldson, and from her earliest days she embraced the values of faith, family, and service.

A devoted and faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pearl loved the Lord with her whole heart. Her church family was an extension of her own, and she found joy in worship, fellowship, and prayer. Her quiet strength and unwavering faith were the foundation of her life and the source of the comfort she offered so freely to others.

Despite the hardships she endured, Pearl faced each season of life with remarkable grace, dignity, and resilience. She carried a heart that loved deeply and forgave easily, and her spirit was one of gentleness, wisdom, and quiet courage. Today, she is reunited with her husband, children, and siblings—resting in the loving arms of the Lord, free from pain and embraced in perfect peace.

Pearl delighted in the simple joys that made life beautiful. She loved planting flowers and watching them bloom, finding peace in the earth and joy in every petal. She also enjoyed watching crime shows, a pastime that brought her both comfort and laughter. These small pleasures reflected her warm personality—rooted, steady, and full of character.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted son, Everett Stagg (Roni); her daughter-in-law, Angela Stagg; her brother, David Donaldson; her sister, Ida Cherry; her sister-in-love, Shirley Donaldson; ten cherished grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pearl’s journey on earth has come to a peaceful close, but the light she carried remains. It lives on in every prayer she prayed, every meal she shared, every flower she nurtured, and every heart she touched. Her love was a gift—steady, strong, and enduring—and her legacy will forever continue through those who were blessed to know her.

May her soul rest in everlasting peace, and may her memory be a blessing.
