PERRY THOMAS WILLIAMS SR. was born on March 10, 1938, to the union of Felmon and Geneva Williams. Perry was the second of five siblings and was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. In the early 1940s, his family relocated to Pontiac, Michigan, where Perry would grow up and make his mark on the community.
From an early age, Perry’s life was rooted in faith. He gave his life to Christ as a young boy and remained steadfast in his devotion. A loyal and committed member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, he faithfully served and supported the ministry throughout his life.
Educated in the Pontiac school system, Perry distinguished himself as an exceptional athlete, excelling in track and field and becoming a well-known figure among his classmates and peers. After graduating from Pontiac Central High School in 1957, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Perry served three years of active duty, earning an honorable discharge. Years later, he met the love of his life, Joyce Gracey, and together they remained inseparable.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Erik Williams (Marquita); sister, Patricia Gadson; grandchildren, Byron Mims (Ke Ke), Erik Williams Jr., Amiri Pierce, and Ericka Williams; Danielle Coleman, and Darren Coleman, Jr., great-grandchildren, Aundrevon Williams, Trinity Williams, Chad Pierce Jr., Allonte Williams, Legend Williams, Ena Johnson Williams, and Kaine Williams; mother of his children, Delores Williams; loving “daughters” Shannon Coleman and Tesha Long; loving cousin/sister, Norma Jean Nicholson; lifelong friend, Chris Brown; dear friend, Betty Shorter, who was like a sister, and the entire Shorter family; and his devoted companion of 38 years, Joyce Gracey.
He was preceded in death by his son, Perry Williams Jr.; parents, Felmon and Geneva Williams; siblings, Faymire Williams, Felmon Williams Jr., and Linda Williams.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan, from 12:00pm - 7:00pm.
