Peter's Obituary

KICKAPOO - Peter S. Shynk Jr, 46, of Kickapoo, entered eternal life at 3:31 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Heartland Manor Care in Peoria.Born January 16, 1967, in Peoria to Peter S. and Jeannette (Schmitt) Shynk Sr, he married Mary Diane Anthony on July 25, 2006 in Holderness, on Golden Pond, New Hampshire.She survives along with one son, Christopher Shynk of Wyanet; two daughters, Noel and Joy Whalen both of Kickapoo; his mother, Jeannette Shynk of Kickapoo; his sister, Liz (Mike) Doyle of Kickapoo; and nephew, Aaron (Trish) Buck and their daughter,Ariana, of Peoria.Peter was a financial planner for over 15 years with Country Financial, worked plowing snow for the Ill. Dept. of Transportation, and enjoyed farming most of all with the Shane Family Farms.He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying snowmobiling, hiking, climbing the Appalachian Mountains, and camping out East. He was a Cub Scout Master with the Boy Scouts, and helped coach soccer in East Peoria and baseball in Kickapoo. He served as treasurer of Western Illinois Livestock Association.He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Kickapoo Softball/Baseball Organization, and the Young Farmers Association.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, from 3 until 5:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church.A memorial service will follow the visitation and will be held at 6 p.m. with Pastor Joe Meyer and Associate Pastor Ted Benson officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.A celebration of his life will follow the services at Kickapoo Winery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peter Shynk Family Fund, C/O Heritage Bank.Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com.
