Not sure what to say?

Through my friends in the Ladue class of 1969, I recently learned of Coach Brusca’s passing. Yes, he is fondly remembered as a great coach, but I knew him best as my Driver’s Ed teacher my sophomore year before moving to Austin that summer. He inspired me to study the text book as if my life depended upon it—the only text book I read cover to cover throughout high school and college! Driving in an American Motors Rambler sedan he would say “slow down and coast before that stop sign.” Then,...

So lucky to have played for Coach Brusca, and we were there when he came to Ladue in 1959 or '60. He was an assistant football coach on our team of 1960, along with Coach Velten and Coach Wagner. Quality guys all.

Coach Brusca was my coach and teacher at Ladue in the 1980s. I learned a great deal from him and I have thought of him often over the years. Wishing you peace and comfort.

My condolences to the family. I have many fond memories of Mr Brusca from Ladue, class of ‘85. Rest in peace.

Any kid that had the good fortune to go to Ladue High School had some of the best teachers and coaches of all time, anywhere in the world. Phil Brusca stands out at the top of the list. At the risk of being verbose, I would like to share a memory of Coach Brusca that speaks to the degree of dedication he had. I was having a bad week in practice throwing the discus (probably after a less than stellar meet performance the previous weekend) and was out on the track well passed quitting time. ...

Coach always knew how to encourage his students. He was knowledgeable, empathetic and had a great attitude. He motivated me to be a better player and person. He’s one of those people who I tried to emulate all my life.
Thank you coach !!!
Perry Lumerman, class of 1966

Rest easy coach.

You will always remain a remarkable human being, Coach Brusca! I had always wondered about you & how you had been doing since my years at Ladue Horton Watkins High School. I was in the Class Of 1990. Now I know you are in a much better place and resting well.
