Phillip's Obituary

Phillip Augustine Toth died in his home in West Bloomfield on September 8, 2025, at the age of 78.

Phil was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 18, 1947, to David and Carol Toth. He spent most of his childhood in Dearborn, Michigan, attending Sacred Heart Catholic School. As a young man, he attended the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and later the University of Michigan.

The middle child in a family of five, Phil was the bridge between his older siblings Judy Pfeifer (deceased) and David (deceased), and his younger sisters Janice Chernin and Joyce Toth (Joe Saenz).

He is survived by his two sons Phillip (Tania) and Josef Toth (Janine), daughter Dana Shope (Randy), and was preceded in death by his son Derek Maki. He leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren—Haydn, Olivia, Luke, Logan, Andrew, Caroline, and Samantha—who were a constant source of pride and joy. He will be deeply missed by his long-time partner Toni Toth, his nieces and nephews, and countless friends, colleagues, and associates.

Phil was an entrepreneur at heart, pursuing numerous ventures over the course of his life with creativity, drive, and resilience. Beyond his professional pursuits, he cherished traveling the world, spending time on the water boating, and was an avid reader who never stopped learning. His adventurous spirit and love for new experiences enriched not only his own life but also the lives of those around him.
