Not sure what to say?

I was unaware of her passing. We were cousins, but not closely related.

Phillipina “Kandi” Flowers Bishop

Phillipina “Kandi” Flowers Bishop, age 72, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on March 11, 1953, in Buffalo, New York, Phillipina later made New Orleans her beloved home, where she lived for more than 30 years and became a cherished, unforgettable presence in the community she deeply loved. A former student of Howard University, she studied Communications and Theater, a perfect reflection of her expressive, artistic, and joyous nature. Phillipina loved to dance and sing, filling every space with music, movement, and laughter. Her radiant personality and passion for entertainment even led to her being recognized as an honorary member of Parliament with George Clinton-a fitting tribute to her vibrant and unforgettable spirit. Professionally, Phillipina devoted over 50 years to her calling as a Legal Assistant, serving with dedication, grace, and remarkable expertise. She was a valued and respected member of The King Firm, where her professionalism, kindness, and unwavering commitment left an indelible mark on colleagues, clients, and the legal community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob Bishop-her partner, best friend, and confidante. Phillipina and Bob shared a deep and extraordinary bond, one built on laughter, faith, and unwavering loyalty. When Bob passed away, Phillipina was left with beautiful memories of their life together, but also a hole in her heart that never fully healed. She carried his love with her always, finding strength in the legacy of devotion they shared. At the center of Phillipina’s life was her beloved son, Sean Salley. She adored Sean with a deep, unconditional love. He was her pride and joy-her greatest blessing-and the bond they shared was one of profound closeness and devotion. Phillipina celebrated her son in every chapter of her life, guiding him with wisdom, supporting him with tenderness, and loving him with her whole heart. Her love extended proudly to her bonus children, Bob Bishop Jr., Anthony Bishop, Richelle Bishop and Robert Bishop (deceased); five grandchildren, who brought her immense joy, as well as to her honorary children, Justin Reese, Stephanie Bonilla, and Tosha Mills, whom she embraced with the same warmth, generosity, and motherly affection that defined her life. She also leaves to cherish a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Phillipina loved the Lord deeply, and her faith carried her through every season-especially during her illness. Her grace, courage, and steadfast belief were an inspiration to all who knew her. Phillipina will be remembered for her humor, compassion, creativity, and the joy she shared so freely. Her legacy shines on in the music she loved, the people she uplifted, the faith that sustained her, and the family she cherished beyond measure.\Memorial Service: Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service honoring the life of Phillipina Flowers Bishop on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home 2120 Jackson Ave.New Orleans, LA. 70113 You may sign the guest book on www.gertrudegeddeswillis.com. Poem in Her Memory - 'Dancing Into Glory'

She danced through life with laughter,With music in her soul,A heart that held God’s goodness,A spirit brave and whole.

She sang her songs with purpose,With joy that overflowed,And everywhere her feet would stepGod’s love was surely shown.

Her faith was her foundation,Her strength through every storm,A quiet, steady courageThat held her safe and warm.

Now Heaven’s choir surrounds her,Its gates are open wide-She’s dancing into gloryWith Jesus by her side.

Though we will miss her presence,Her laughter, light, and grace,We know she rests in peace now,In God’s eternal embrace.
