Not sure what to say?

Phyllis Byron was my music theory teacher at Lancaster High, class of '70. It was my great privilege to have been her student. She was a tough lady with a tender and compassionate soul. Godspeed, Mrs. B.

Phyllis was a wonderful person, teacher, and friend. We have her in our hearts forever. Thank you for everything, Phyllis.

I was so sorry to see Phyllis had past. Besides being cousins I took piano lessons from her. When Phyllis and Dave worked for the rec center in Lancaster in the 60's I was about 10 years old and did crafts and visited with Phyllis. I remember her good humor and kindness. I think of her fondly. My prayers are with her and her family.

Sincere condolences to Dave and family. I have so many good memories of Phyllis from chorus, musicals, All State Choir and many more. Her encouragement in all facets of education molded us to be successful individuals. I´ll not forget her and what she did for me.

I was deeply saddened to just learn of Phyllis's passage. Having had the privilege to serve as her Principal at Williamsville North where she taught for many years, I can think of no other educator who so positively affected the lives of their students. I was pleased to see this testified to over and over again in the personal stories which many former students have posted here. As many former students spoke to, her tough love approach and strong discipline in her choral room was more than...

I just heard this news minutes ago and I have no idea how to put into words the impact this woman had on my life. As a student of hers she inspired me to work hard and believe in myself. Her tough love approach combined with her compassion gave me the much needed confidence in myself to find my way in the world. She inspired me to become a vocal music teacher which I was fortunate to do for 34 years. She shaped my life immensely and helped me become who I am today. I was fortunate to...

She touched and influenced countless lives, helping people become better by the way she taight. There’s a saying often attributed to Bach, that when he died he said he was going to where the music comes from. It feels right to think she’d be happy to go there too. She was truly one in eight billion, and we are all so blessed to have known her. I sometimes think of her when I listen to classical music and start speeding down the freeway as the music crescendos. She had mentioned that she did...

Mrs. Byron had an amazing influence on my life. I was on a bad path at one time and she fought for me, never gave up on me and encouraged more from me without question. My high school years would not have been the same without her. My condolences to her family, she was truly loved and respected by so many of her students.

Mrs. Byron was my MusicTheory teacher at Williamsville North HS. I remember her as a teacher who showed kindness and compassion. She taught me to be resilient and never give up on my dreams.
