So sorry to hear about Jean. She was a nice lady & boss. I worked at my first salon with her fresh out of beauty school.

Phyllis Jean's Obituary

Phyllis Jean Tompkins known as Jean Tompkins age 89 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Tompkins was born in Carroll County, Virginia on March 7, 1936 to Armstead Roscoe and Arizona Dora Marrs Parish. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Monroe Tompkins; siblings John Parish; Charles Parish; Keith Parish and Margaret Parish.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Cecelia Tompkins Patton and Cliff; son and special friend Dennis Tompkins and Teresa King all of Galax, Virginia; two grandsons Michael A. Patton (Jessica) of Christiansburg, Virginia; Matthew S. Patton (Faith Eichner) of Galax, Virginia;  two great-grandsons Andrew Patton and Walker Patton.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11:30 AM in the Felts Memorial Cemetery with Minister  Kent Allender officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
