Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry I missed Ray's Celebration of Life. I have known Ray since we were high school students in Poughkeepsie High. Ray, may you rest In peace.

Dearest Grandpa Ray,

I'm sorry I wasn't able to say goodbye. I've been reading all of our old emails, texts, letters/cards... that I will truly miss receiving. They make me smile/laugh, think/learn, sad/cry. I'm so grateful we were able to stay connected for the past 15+ years, and we finally met Tonda and you while on vacation in August 2015.

I cherish our deep conversations about life/death, family, love, aging, politics, and Faith. Despite any past regrets or faults...

Dearest Uncle Ray as you were known to my family and me. In the years we lived beside you, you and Tonda were family. We spent many holidays and birthdays together and you spent so much time teaching my son about airplanes and days spent at the beach. Thought he might become a pilot. I miss baking you your favorite lemon pies. You were the best! May God comfort Caroline and your family. Rest in peace our dear friend.

It may have been a while since we had last gotten to see each other, but every time I smell cigars or peppermints, I think of good times at Uncle Buddy's house. Love you and miss you ❤
