Son of the late Edward & Corinne (Beauregard) Goguen, Ralph was born, raised, and educated in Fitchburg. He graduated from Fitchburg High School, Class of 1953, as a standout athlete playing four years on the varsity basketball team. Although recruited to play college basketball, Ralph enlisted to proudly serve our nation in the US Army following in the footsteps of his father and four older brothers. Ralph then began his successful professional career, working for Raytheon as an Electro Mechanical Designer, where he contributed to the lunar landing project. He continued as a drafting manager for Grason-Stadler Company for many years, before ultimately retiring from Panametrics.
Ralph raised his family in Lunenburg where he was actively involved in coaching his sons’ little league teams to dynasty status after winning numerous consecutive championships. In addition, Ralph shared his love of music with his family, often playing his ukulele and leading sing-a-longs.
Ralph and Bernice enjoyed retirement years at their home among friends and family at The Villages in Florida, where they were actively involved in their community as members of the Parkinson Group, as parishioners of St. Mark the Evangelist Church, as hosts of neighborhood block parties, and as regulars on the golf course. While a lifelong fan of the Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics, Ralph cheered loudest for his grandchildren in their successes on and off the field, proudly bragging of their accomplishments to friends and strangers alike.
Ralph was blessed with a brilliant mind, quick wit, and dry sense of humor and brought laughter to all occasions. Above all, he will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a devoted family man, loving husband, father, and grandfather.
