Sorry for your loss

I worked alongside Mona at Lowe’s for years. I cherished our friendship; the lunches, the laughs, even going to church to get our ashes on Ash Wednesdays. She was one of a kind. She will be missed, never forgotten. Fly high my friend, you definitely deserve your wings.❤

REST IN PEACE

My deepest sympathy to the family.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Obituary

Ramona's Obituary

Ramona Lynn Simien, affectionately known as Mona, was born on October 26, 1962, in Houston, Texas, to Carlton and Alice Simien.

Mona spent her formative years in Houston and attended the Galena Park Independent School District. In 1977, she and her family relocated to Dayton, Texas, where she continued her education and graduated in 1981 from Dayton High School.

From a young age, Mona developed a passion for music. She loved playing the piano and excelled in choir during high school. Alongside a fellow choir member, she formed a dynamic duo that traveled across Texas, performing in various cities. In addition to her musical talents, Mona was an athlete who played volleyball and was a spirited supporter of her community as a member of the Dayton Pep Squad.

Throughout her life, Mona built lasting memories and cherished friendships. She was one of four peas in a pod; wherever you found one, the other three were sure to be nearby: Diana Perry Hebert, Julie Simien Denkins, and Betty Brown Edwards.

Her family brought her the greatest joy and served as her proudest achievement. Being a mother and grandmother filled her heart with love and purpose. Mona delighted in the laughter and companionship of her sister Julie, her granddaughter, and her nieces during their beloved annual girls' trips, treasuring every moment spent with family at Terry and Kathy’s home.

Mona was known for her strong work ethic and unwavering dedication. She spent nine years at Lowe's as a sales coordinator and later worked at D Now as a warehouse coordinator, giving her best in every role until her health began to decline.

Mona’s life was a testament to love, friendship, and commitment— to her family, friends, and every endeavor she pursued. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.

On the evening of Monday, January 26, 2026, at the age of 63, Mona's earthly journey came to a peaceful end, surrounded by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Alice Simien; her maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Theresa Green; her paternal grandparents, Ashton and Elizabeth Simien; and her sister, Mary Ann Guyton.

She leaves behind cherished memories for her children, Tarashia Simien and Carlon Jesse McElhaney Simien; her grandchildren, Tayla, Ezra, and Eris; her sisters, Julie Denkins (James) and Betty Chenevert; her aunt, Cora Gibson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry her love in their hearts.
