I graduated from Ben Davis in 1983 with Jenise and Russell and I share Randy’s passion for our Alma mater.

Randall "Randy"'s Obituary

Randall “Randy” Eugene Koker, born January 24, 1966, age 59, passed away after his valiant battle with cancer, on August 12, 2025, at his home in Louisville, Kentucky.

Randy was a proud graduate of Ben Davis High School, Class of 1984, and went on to study Restaurant and Hospitality Management at Northwood College in Midland, Michigan, finishing his education at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis.

Randy spent his career, beginning in his teens, working in restaurants and food services. His many accomplishments saw him managing restaurants for the likes of Grindstone Charlie’s, Michaelangelo’s, Houlihan’s, and O’Charley’s Restaurants in Indianapolis. He then went on to manage food and beverage services for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for several years before relocating to Louisville, Kentucky. Once in Louisville, he continued his career working at Hard Rock Cafe and then spent seven years with McAlister’s Deli before retiring.

Randy’s passion for food and cooking was surpassed only by his compassion for others. He truly loved being of service to those around him, whether through his work, his hospitality, or his generous spirit. Randy will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Vicky A. (Wilson) Koker, and is survived by his father, Gary N. Koker of Indianapolis, IN; his sister, Jenise C. (Koker) Jeffers, (husband Russell) of Westfield, IN and his brother, J. Cory Koker (wife Amy) of Champaign, IL, and countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family.

A service to celebrate Randy’s life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel, 4925 W. 16th Street, Speedway, Indiana 46224. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with services immediately following. Cremation was facilitated by B&G Mortuary Service in Charlestown, Indiana.

The family asks for donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
