Raphael M. “Ray” Lucente, 79, of Lower Milford Township, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of Barbara A. (Souder) Lucente, with whom he shared four cherished years of marriage. He was also the beloved husband of the late Candyce Mary (Andersen) Lucente, who predeceased him on April 16, 2020.
Born on November 18, 1946, in Saugerties, New York, Ray was the son of the late Matthew and Rosalie M. (Migliacci) Lucente.
Ray proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a dental technician, owning and operating his own dental implant business.
A man of deep faith, Ray dedicated 30 years of his life to pastoral ministry in Catskill, New York, and most recently served at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in Coopersburg. He was a member of Christ Community Bible Fellowship Church in Perkasie, where he continued to nurture his spiritual community.
Ray found great joy in giving back, especially through his volunteer work at Willard Elementary School, working with children in grades K–4. His kindness, patience, and servant’s heart left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Ray is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Heather Ann (Eric) Zloty of Springtown and Charity M. Lucente of Upper Black Eddy; his siblings, Kenneth (Renee) Lucente of Long Island, NY, and Mary Grace (Nick) Varolian of Oyster Bay, NY; his four grandchildren, Eric R. wife of Rebecca, Nathan M., Grace R., and Abigail C. Zloty; and his great-grandchildren, Lucy N. and Isaac Zloty.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors for family and friends will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., Hellertown. To share an expression of sympathy, please visit: www.heintzelmancares.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Frances E. Willard School for Teacher’s Appreciation Day at the end of the school term, 1930 E. Elkhart Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134.
