Obituary

Raul "Rudy"'s Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raul "Rudy" B. Sanchez, age 78, of Midland, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 8, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend whose kindness, warmth, and love for family touched the lives of all who knew him.

Rudy was born on February 6, 1947, in Midland, Texas, where he was also raised and educated. He attended school at De Zavala, Stephen F. Austin, and Midland High School. On April 11, 1964, he married the love of his life, Veneranda “Tandy” Vasquez. Their love story began when Rudy saw her in the first grade and told himself he would marry her one day—a promise he joyfully fulfilled. Together, they built a beautiful life and a strong, loving family.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Rudy held several roles throughout his career, including manager positions at Furr’s Super Market and M System Super Market. He also worked for Checker’s Auto, Walgreens, Whites Auto, and Lack’s Furniture, O’ Reilly’s Auto Parts, eventually retiring from O’Reilly’s on May 3, 2024.

Rudy will be remembered for his deep love of family. He never missed an event—no matter how big or small—and could always be found in the audience cheering the loudest. His generosity, kindness, and outgoing spirit meant he never met a stranger. He was a man who lived with greatlove, laughed often, and left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

Rudy's life was a testament to love, loyalty, and the joy of family. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Rudy is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Veneranda (Tandy) Sanchez, and their beloved children: Terrie Sue Lujan (Manuel Lujan), Raymond Will Sanchez (Janet Sanchez), and Richard Paul Sanchez. His legacy lives on through his 12 cherished grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts. He is also survived by his siblings: Freddie Sanchez, Pablo Sanchez Jr., Larry Sanchez, Samuel Sanchez, Fernando Sanchez, Rosa Ramos, and Maria Sanchez.
