Raymond's Obituary

Raymond King Freeman, 89, beloved husband of 67 years to Donna Lee Freeman, went to his Heavenly home on August 19, 2025, at The Lantern at Morning Pointe in Frankfort, KY. Born on March 26, 1936, in Whitley County, KY, he was the son of the late Leslie Freeman and Lula Martin Freeman.

Raymond was a retired UPS delivery driver, having dedicated 30 years to the company. A faithful member of Sand Spring Baptist Church for nearly 65 years, he found great joy in service—particularly through the cemetery committee and by driving the church van for the bus ministry. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Raymond earned a basketball scholarship to Campbellsville College and enjoyed many years playing fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball in local leagues. He was also an avid golfer, proudly earning numerous trophies over the years. Off the field, Raymond tended a thriving garden, generously sharing its bounty with family, friends, and neighbors. Raymond was known as a hard worker and a genuinely kind man—always ensuring his family felt deeply loved and cared for.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his sons, Keith Martin Freeman (Lisa) and Jim Marlowe Freeman (Denise); five grandchildren, Alex (Laura), Haley (Chris), Zachary, Hannah (Seth), and Grace; four great grandchildren and one on the way.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by several siblings.

A public graveside service will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Sand Spring Baptist Church Cemetery pavilion, 1616 Harrodsburg Rd., Lawrenceburg, KY. Visitation will take place at the Sand Spring Cemetery pavilion from 11:00 AM until the start of the graveside service at 1:00 PM.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Freeman, Zachary Freeman, Chris Hancock, Seth Robertson, L.W. Barnes, and Charlie Cammack.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Raymond’s memory are suggested to Bluegrass Care Navigators, 643 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601, Samaritan’s Heart at Sand Spring Baptist Church, P.O. Box 166, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342, or Anderson County Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 61, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342-0061.
