Raymond M. Lally, 78, Cromwell, died Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Ray was born on July 11, 1947 in Duluth to Reginald and Irene Lally. He instilled his work ethic at an early age by using his bicycle to deliver groceries for Sass’s Store and laundry for Independent Cleaners. At the age of 16, Ray earned Eagle Scout, and it was also the beginning of a true love story of Ray and Lindsay as they had met at the Cozy Cove Resort on Mille Lacs Lake where Ray had enamored Lindsay with his accordion playing. Ray attended Denfeld High School graduating in 1965. He worked at Target earning his way through college at UMD and later transferred to NDSU where he attained his Pharmacist Degree. On June 6, 1970, Ray married Lindsay Hedin in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Duluth. To this union, two daughters were born: Anna Leah and Megan Rae whom he was so proud of. Besides being in the Air National Guard 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth, Ray worked as a pharmacist for the Medich Pharmacy in Cloquet and ended his pharmacy career in 2011 at the Medicine Shoppe in Grand Rapids. During his pharmacy career, Ray took a 25-year sabbatical to be the administrator at Villa Vista in Cromwell. He was extremely dedicated to the City of Cromwell where he was on the Cromwell City Council for 30 years, Mayor of Cromwell for 10 years, and a Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator for over 30 years. Ray volunteered for the Cromwell Fire & Ambulance and served as treasurer, spearheaded the construction of the Cromwell Fire Station, and was a member of the EMS Council. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cromwell and the Moose Lake American Legion. Ray loved to read, collect frogs, go galivanting with Lindsay both locally and while traveling throughout the United States, Central America, Europe, and the Caribbean. Ray treasured being a grandfather and cherished all the visits as a joy and blessing to his life. In his retirement, Ray struggled with multiple health issues, but he often reflected on his life and was glad he traveled when he could and was content with his accomplishments.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Reginald and Irene Lally.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Lindsay; two daughters: Anna (Lee) Knutson of New Richmond, WI and Megan (Brock) Norman of Blaine, MN; 6 grandchildren: twins: Lafe and Axel, Eleanor, Vaughn, and twins: Stella and Mara; 2 brothers: Dennis (Brenda) Lally and Reginald Lally; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2025 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11 am in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. A visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass in the church. Military Honors will be outside the church following Mass. Lunch will be served in the church social hall.
