Mr. Raymond Nathaniel Miller, Sr., a retired Steel Worker entered rest April 26, 2025 in Chesapeake Virginia.
Raymond Nathaniel Miller, Sr. was the fifth of six surviving children of Calvin Raymond and Annie Aldridge Miller. He was born in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas on October 9, 1932. He departed this life peacefully on April 26, 2025, after a long illness.
He was educated in the public schools of Hillsboro, Texas, and entered the U. S. Army in 1953, where he served in the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on March 15, 1955. He was transferred to the U. S. Army Reserves where he served honorably through his discharge in 1961.
Mr. Miller married the former Alice Clyde Gholston. A son, Hermano, was born to this union. He later remarried to Fort Worth native Lady Jean Matthews and this union produced two children, Terry Lynn and Raymond, Jr.
Mr. Miller retired from Texas Steel Corporation after 30 years of dedicated service. Although raised in the Methodist faith in Wade Chapel A.M.E. in Hillsboro, in his later life, he was baptized by Rev. Dr. Julius Jackson Sr., at Macedonia Baptist Church. He later joined and continued to be a faithful member of Jubilee Baptist Church in Fort Worth, attending weekly and giving Christian service until his health failed. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by all of his siblings including three sisters: Frenchie Mae Miller, Lillie M. Broadus, and Sarah M. Rand; and two brothers: George Calvin Miller and Daniel Webster Miller.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lady Jean, one daughter, Terry of Suffolk, VA; two sons, Raymond Jr. (Karen) of Alexandria, VA, and Hermano (Wanda) of Garland, TX; three grandchildren: Pia J. Miller, J.D. of Newport News, VA, Raymond Miller III of Memphis, TN, and Carole Gabrielle Miller of Harrisonburg, VA; a loving niece, Sandra B. Jennings (Henry Clay) of Waco, TX; three caring nephews, Charles R. Davis (Robert Nette), Roderick M. Hicks and Darrell W. Miller, all of Dallas, TX; a special great-nephew, Clay Jennings of Waco, TX, and a host of in-laws, extended Miller and Aldridge family members throughout the country, and friends.
