Father Dave was a caring and compassionate humane being. He loved his St James parish and will truly be missed. You could talk to him about anything. Rev. David Bruce Krolczyk, age 78, of Steger, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Beloved brother of Robert (Lizbeth) Krolczyk. Fond uncle of Annelise Noel (Ryan) Demkowicz and Aron Paul Krolczyk. Preceded in death by his parents Stanley Paul Sr. and Irene Krolczyk, nee Swiontkowski, and his siblings Gregory Paul Krolczyk, Stanley Paul Krolczyk Jr. and John David Krolczyk. He was loved by his family, his church, and many friends, and will be dearly missed.
David was born in Chicago and attended St. Mary Star of the Sea School, Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary, Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary South, and University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary.
He served as Associate Pastor of Our Lady of the Mount, Cicero (1972-1978); Sacred Heart, Melrose Park (1978-1981); St. Mary of Czestochowa (1981-1987); and St. Jude the Apostle, South Holland (1987-1988). He was Pastor of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, Posen (1988-2002); administrator of Queen of the Universe (2003); Pastor of St. James the Greater, Sauk Village (2003-2021); and after his retirement celebrated Masses at St. Joseph Church, Dyer, IN (2021-2025).
David also served for four years as a field advocate for the marriage tribunal and four years on the building and renovation commission, as well as serving as chaplain of three Knights of Columbus Councils.
Lying in state Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, September 22, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Father's funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. everything directly at St. Liborius Catholic Church 71 W. 35th St. Steger, IL 60475. Interment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery - Justice, Illinois.
