Not sure what to say?

So many wonderful memories of Jack dating back to his years coming to say Mass at Villa Angela Convent as a “rent a priest” as the Borromeo priests called themselves . We reunited 50 + later as he came to say Mass at St. Lads . We had a great reunion and would make time to “do lunch” the past few years . To say he will be missed is an understatement. I am sure his joy is now complete..♥until we meet again .

Rest in Peace Jack. I will always remember our days at Ascension. I could tell stories of you too. Your parents and Kathy were a big part of Ascension too. God bless you.

Thank you Father Jack, for the warmth you conveyed to everyone at St. Ladislas parish, for the best homilies and hearing my confessions. Your knowledge, humor, stories and outpouring of love to all will be greatly missed. I loved chatting, joking, and sharing faith with you. You will hold a special place in my heart forever.

Rest In Peace Fr Manning you always said such a beautiful mass & we all so loved your wonderful sense of humor & so enjoyed all your homilies!

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I loved his Homilies, and his kindness

Rest in heavenly peace.

Fr. Manning served our Lord well. He had a special way when it came to doing the school mass at St. Vincent de Paul. The children loved his stories and If you loved history he was the one to talk to. He was very affable and it was easy to call him your friend. We would often run into each other while he was at St. John's Cathedral. He always had a smile and and would take the time to chat and you had the feeling that he sincerely cared about your well being . I am always in awe of the men and...

Fr. Jack was always so hospitable, warm, kindly, welcoming. He truly was a priest's priest and represented the very best of the priesthood. He always made me feel welcome, respected and valued as a faculty member at St. Mary's Seminary. I'll never forget his kindly and warm smile, always taking time to chat and connect. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

When I think of Jack I smile. His humor was infectious. (And I can only imagine the joke he'd make if he knew I used that adjective.) But my main memory of Jack will be of a life well-lived: How he so willingly devoted his life to others; be they his parishioners, fellow priests, seminarians, family and friends. He touched so many lives during his time with us and made all of us stronger and better. And he made us laugh. Thanks, Jack.
